Friendship: Are We Good Friends?

Talking about friendship, I'd like to tell you my experience today at four classes: XI.IB2, X.A, XI.IB1, and X.G. We played a simple game about friendship.

I came to Eleven Language 2 at five fifty and there had been a female student named Megalina Arujie, living in Trawas, about 10 kilometres away. She was shocked to see me coming so early (Hello....I always come earlier, right?)

I was ready with the ice-breaking that we had done last year at the botanical garden. However, we had to discuss the difference between verbs plus to infinitive and verbs plus gerund (V-ing) first. I asked the students to stand up and get out of their rows about thirty minutes before the bell. Then I asked them to stand a meter away from the person they like.

So there was a crowd. Someone has been everyone's favorite here. She is Alfia Luftiansa. She screamed when her friends approaching. She was probably worried of another bullying. I asked her to be calm because we should do it silently. "Don't say any word, please."

The most throbbing part was when I asked them to stand 2 meter away from the person they hate. It was seen clearly that there were two students who had many haters. I could see those two students felt uncomfortable.

I also did it in X.A. I asked them whether they like it. The wisest one, Nasrulloh, said that it was discriminating. He disliked it.
Yes, it's true. The game is discriminating. I asked them whether being a hated person is good or not. Surely they said 'No'. Then I said "don't hate anyone, then." I asked them what they would do to avoid being hated by others. The Fabulous students said, they need to be kind, generous, smiley, cheerful, honest, and having good mood every day!

I did the same in Eleven Language 1. Poor the hated student. She doesn't have friends (Hey, Guys. What's going on? Let's love her well). I also asked them to write down the name of person who they will miss whenever they move to other town(1), the person they hate(2), their hope for the next birthday(3), and the thing(s) they really want to buy this week(4). Unfortunately they refused to show me their papers.

I ended today's lesson in X.G in a sweet smile seeing that no one is being hated. "We love one another, Mam," said the girls. :')

I learned a lot today. I learned that we still have chance to be better person. I learned that we still have friends around. I learned that our mood can change the world. I learned that some students are even wiser than me. (Sidoarjo, 21 March 2013)
