Task 2
Read the
synopsis.
The Girl Next Door
Richie
moved to this town not long after his father got promotion in a media company
owned by Julie’s father. They lived next door and it was just a small town
where every wall had ears.
Richie
was nervous when his mom introduced him to her-he was just fifteen-but then he
got his confidence when she invited him to her friend’s birthday party.
From
then on Richie always tried to drive her to school. His friends thought that
they were dating. Than he saw her talking with a popular boy at the school
canteen one day. He was so sad that he didn’t say hello to her. He tried to avoid
her at school. When she came to his house he told her mom to send her away. It
was a deep sad moment.
Then
the graduation concert came. Richie didn’t join it because he had had an
accident a day before but he was not badly injured. His friends put him on the
front row. He was not interested at first but suddenly the girl that he love
came on stage with her classic guitar and sang his favorite song by Savage
Garden. “I knew I loved you before I met you...” She kept staring at him while
strumming on the strings. He almost couldn’t catch his breath.
Task 3
Which
paragraph shows this scene?
Scene ...
School canteen was crowded.
There were a good-looking boy and a beautiful girl talking at a corner. They
seemed to live in other world.
[Richie and Nemo enter]
Richie : (moving
a chair) Let’s just sit here, Mo.
Nemo : (moving
another chair closer to Richie) It’s Friday but why are there so many students
having breakfast here? Where are their parents? Where are their nannies? Are
they too busy to prepare a meal for their children?
Richie : (tittering)
Look who’s talking here. You’re talking as if you’re not part of this world.
Why are you here anyway? Where are your parents? Where are your nannies? Are
they too busy to prepare a meal for their children? (laughing out loud)
Nemo : (blushing)
Don’t repeat my words.
(standing and walking to the
seller) Two bowls of chicken soup, Mam...and also two glasses of iced tea.
Richie : (smiling)
Wow, wow, you’re going to treat me now. What a kind gentleman you are!
Nemo : (walking
to Richie) Shut up! I’m having birthday today and I don’t want anyone but you
knows about this. Make it secret, or I’ll end in the school ditch. (looking at
Julie) Gosh! (poking at Richie) Look! (giving sign to Richie to look at the
corner)
Richie : (gasping,
silent)
Nemo : I
thought you’re dating her.
Richie : (silent)
Nemo : Rich?
(rubbing Richie’s back) Stay cool, Man!
In the previous meeting, students were grouped in six or seven. They were given chance to decide the story and write the script in bahasa Indonesia. The script then was translated into English. This should be done in group to make us more aware of cooperativeness.
Eleven Language 1 (L1) are ready to perform on Tuesday, May 28th 2013. This class has shown progress compare to last semester. This is probably because they have found the 'chemistry'. It makes the lesson more live.
